Black is not a curse



My brothers died so we could have a future.
Stood up for rights so ours would occur.
Stripped from their families left with mental depression.
We use liquor and drugs to relieve oppression.
Living for us we stomp on their dreams.
Slavery boat rides to Civil Rights hear those screams.
They held the dream we'd all live together.
We must never let that come to blur.
WE'LL NEVER SAY BEING BLACK IS A CURSE!
Our trials and tribulations should never seem reverse.
We were the American version of Hebrew slaves.
Inventors and sculptors for our nations new waves.
To die and form our nation their mystery.
There is no America without our Black History.
We must succeed not drag each other down.
Don't kill each other when success is bound.
I take pride in defining what we've become.
A testimony of love and more to some.
I choose to add to our black legacy.
To fulfill my dreams and unchain life free.

Thanks for stopping by. I checked your poetry out and I like your style as well. My fave was Attraction. So you a Water Bearer huh? I got a poem that can mingle with African American History titled Black is not a curse. Let me know if you wanna check it out. You ever been to Cincinnati?
